Hey People,
Today on the show, I’m joined by novelist and short story writer, Akhil Sharma. Akhil is the author of Family Life and A Life of Adventure and Delight. Akhil is an old friend. But that doesn’t mean I let him off the hook. If anything, that just means I dug deeper to uncover his truths.
Because I promise you no matter how well I know a guest writer, I always go into these interviews with the mindset that I have to get something special and unique for you, dear reader. I’ve also learned that the convos I have with guest writers on the podcast are unlike any conversation I’d ever have with them under “normal circumstances.” Like I’ve known Akhil for 20 years, but we talk about stuff in this episode I’ve never heard him talk about.
Akhil Sharma is a regular contributor to The New Yorker, and has won bunch of awards including the PEN/Hemingway Award, Guggenheim, and International Dublin Literary Award. He’s also a professor at Duke.
Anyway, I hope you find this convo as inspiring as I did. One of my favorite qualities about Akhil’s writing (and about him as person), is he seemingly can’t help but tell the truth. With Akhil, there will always be surprises. God bless him.
Love,
Gabe
